Uaru amphiacanthoides
This gentle giant herbivore Cichlid has a large distribution area, and various locales show different coloration. The rare variety shown here from Rio Tapajós in Santarém is unquestionably one of the most beautiful forms, with it’s metallic blue shine to the body, orange-red abdominal area and intensive red eyes.

The season for collecting this species in Rio Tapajós is very short, so when available it is usually only for a limited period of time.
Parancistrus aurantiacus LDA-046
Never available in large numbers, this form of Chubby Pleco was given the number LDA-046 in 1998. Unlike the common form of Parancistrus aurantiacus this form show various degrees of lines and points on a generally lighter body coloration.

LDA-046 is collected together and amongst the common form of Parancistrus aurantiacus, and is just a mere variety of this species, not a new species
Parancistrus aurantiacus
Commonly known and traded as L-056, we decided to continue to use this L-number in our stocklist, despite the fact that the original L-056 is a different species. Parancistrus aurantiacus was originally described from a golden specimen, but most commonly this species is a very dark grey, almost black color.

In addition to the common form of Chubby Pleco and the golden form known as “Xantom” here in Brasil, we do also export an aberrant form of Parancistrus  aurantiacus, known as LDA-046, Parancistrus sp.
L-081/047 Baryancistrus sp.
With it’s large yellow rims to the dorsal fin and tail and small spots to the body, this Baryancistrus sp. represents an intermediate form between L-047 and L-081.

This fish from São Felix is a good example of how the various “Gold Nugget Plecos” have evolved into various forms according to their natural area of distribution. Distinct species or just variations of all but the same species? With all the Golden Nugget Plecos being endemic to the Xingu area we are tempted to say they all belong to the same species, but that is not for us to say until further studies have been conducted by ichtyologists.
Dicrossus maculatus
Contrary to common belief, this species from Rio Tapajós is found in small tributaries with crystal-clear, white water – not the dark-tanned water of the Rio Negro area which is home to it’s more commonly exported relative, Dicrossus filamentosus. Hence, this species is easier to keep and breed, not requiring the very acid and soft water as Dicrossus filamentosus do. We export this gorgeous cichlid in several different sizes, size L-XL sometimes being supplied in a size of app. 8-10 cm!

Stingray

We are dedicated exporters of Black Stingrays belonging to the species Potamotrygon leopoldi from Rio Xingu, and Potamotrygon henlei from Rio Tocantins.

While Potamotrygon henlei are more or less uniform in appearence, Potamotrygon leopoldi show a great degree of variation in pattern, depending on which area they are collected from.

The most beautiful specimens such as the Black Diamond and the Galaxy variety shown here are found near São Felix. We have several people employed in this region, where we also have our own holding facility for these much-in-demand Stingrays.

Once a week a chartered plane departs São Felix for arrival in Belém, so we are ensured a steady supply of these beautiful Stingrays. Upon arrival in Belém the Stingrays are brought by car from the airport to our fish-farm at Rua Jibóia Branca, where we currently have 60 purpose-built vats for Stingrays, each vat holding app. 2000 liters each. Each of the vats have their own separate biological filter system, and individual UV-sterilizators.
